Evaluations.

ADHD Evaluations

No single test can definitively prove whether someone has ADHD. We have unique expertise in assessing, treating and creating appropriate interventions for clients who suspect ADHD may be interfering with daily functioning. As a previous School Psychologist, Malissa has worked with hundreds of students to appropriately evaluate and provide interventions and recommendations to help them succeed. In private practice, she has expertise in helping adults properly identify and treat ADHD.

Malissa conducts a comprehensive assessment, including a thorough history of childhood and educational functioning, standardized ADHD behavior checklists and ratings from others who have observed your behavior in different settings. Malissa also examines current levels of executive functioning using a standardized instrument.

We evaluate for the presence of other conditions that may accompany ADHD such as anxiety, depression, and substance use. In some cases, it may be determined that such conditions are the primary cause of a person's difficulties rather than ADHD. We also looks for other psychological and medical problems that may produce ADHD-like symptoms such as sleep disorders and mood and personality disorders.

Mental Health Evaluations

Psychological assessment is a service that identifies mental health functioning through a combination of interviews, self-report measures, and psychological batteries. While our culture tends to over label mental health “disorders”, sometimes providing a label or name can help individuals to get the most appropriate treatment. A diagnosis can help put words to your difficulties and set you on a path to a happier, healthier life. We provide mental health evaluations to both identify conditions and to make recommendations about ways to improve overall functioning.
